For me the cover of this new one from "Esquela" wasn't too big, but luckily the music did. With this American band we find ourselves in the roots music of that country and not immediately of the least. Like a real "Canis Majoris" they know how to shine and they already managed to win some awards, even though this band has only been around since 2010.

Guest musician Eric "Roscoe" Ambel was also immediately approached as producer for their album. Most of the songs were written by John "Chico" Finn and for the song "Sorry" he even gets the help of his better half Becca Frame who does most of the vocals. On this song they both apologize but we don't have to because they bring nice listening Alt-Country.

The closing "Blue Canoe" is the only cover on this album where the vocals of Becca and John sound perfectly in harmony. "Gold Digger" is a song with some blues influences and because of Becca's timbre we even think Janis Joplin. With "Need Not Apply" we are in the folk world somewhere on the Irish coasts. Tom White's banjo and tin whistle immediately let us soak up the atmosphere of the green island, wonderful.

An album by this "Esquela" that contains enough variety to appeal to different enthusiasts of equal tendencies.
