Jefferson Blues Mag (September 2021 – translated from Swedish)

This plate has been created under special circumstances due to the covid pandemic. Bandleader John "Chico" Finn has recorded the basics of the songs, his vocals and acoustic guitar in his home studio.

He then sent the files to the record's producer Eric ”Roscoe” Ambel, who distributed the files to the other musicians in the band, and then, when they put on their instruments (and vocals by female member Becca Frame), mixed and made their own toppings with vocals. and guitar in his home studio. I have great confidence in the projects that Eric Ambel is involved in. I was a supporter of his band The Del-Lords and his solo album "Roscoe´s Gang" which came out in 1988 is still one of my absolute favorites when it comes to root rock records.

Judging by the sound, the question of whether this is not as much an Ambel record as one of the band Esquela. Yes, no one can take the songwriting away from John Finn, he has written nine of the ten songs. The tenth, "Wait for me", is a composition of a poem written during World War II by the Russian soldier Konstantin Simonov. It is good and current, many times political texts, he has created - the climate, sexual harassment and racism are some of the topics covered.

This is a record filled with great songs. Rock that swings and that feels important.
