Eric “Roscoe” Ambel

Producer

Veteran singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer/raconteur Eric Ambel—known to friends, associates and bandmates as Roscoe—is the possessor of an estimable musical resume that’s established his credentials as a deeply committed rocker as well as a witty and thoughtful songwriter. Between his current duties as producer, bandleader, song writer and studio proprietor, he’s found time to launch his own label, Lakeside Lounge Records, to redress the longstanding absence of Ambel solo product from the marketplace. An original member of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, The Del-Lords and The Yayhoos – Roscoe has been putting out solo records since 1988's "Roscoe's Gang". Roscoe has produced four of the five albums Esquela has released – starting in 2010 with Esquela’s first album – “The Owl Has Landed”. The latest album, “A Sign From God”, Roscoe worked closely with Chico while he recorded the basic tracks from his home studio, while Roscoe produced from afar in Brooklyn. Roscoe then shepherded the rest of the band’s parts in an overdub style with each band member recording from their discrete locations. “A Sign From God” was a stark contrast to how the previous albums had been recorded – live and in the studio. Roscoe has been a tremendous help to the band by lending his tutelage and vast knowledge and has helped Esquela mature with each subsequent release.
